The Community Cares

An opportunity for parents and community members to recognize teachers who have developed great family partnerships to support student learning

The district’s Family & Community Partnership Office has implemented this program to acknowledge and celebrate teachers who have developed great parent/family or community partnerships on behalf of their students.

Working with a variety of community partners, the Family & Community Partnership Office is collecting appreciation items such as coffee mugs and plants as well as extra classroom supplies for teachers. These ‘Community Care’ packages will be distributed in October, 2008, and January, 2009, to teachers who are selected.

There are several ways to help:

1. If you are a parent or guardian, nominate a teacher for this special acknowledgement;
2. If you are a parent or guardian, volunteer to serve on the selection team;
3. If you are a business or community member, you can donate items for the Community Care packages.
