Board Members
The Federal Way School Board Members are your official elected local representatives in matters of public education. Each board member resides in a specific director district. They are elected to four year terms by voters of the entire school district. The board establishes the district goals, policies and budget. The superintendent and school staff translate these policies and goals into action which results in quality education for students in the Federal Way Public Schools.

Board Meeting Information - 2007-08 School Year

Minutes of regular Board meetings are published and posted to the web site only after having been approved by the Board. For example, the minutes of the May 26 Board meeting will be posted to the web site following approval at the June 8 Board meeting. Summary highlights of each regular Board meeting are noted in the COMMUNICATOR which is generally published the day after the regular Board meetings. For any information regarding Board action following a regular Board meeting, please call 945-2003
Regular board meetings are broadcast live on cable channel 21 within the city limits of Federal Way (and can be viewed live online during the meeting at mms://media.cityoffederalway.com/Live). Meetings will be rebroadcast on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and Saturday at 7:00 PM and Tuesday and Thursday at 12:00 noon.

- July 28, 2008 - A School Board Retreat has been scheduled for August 27th at the EX3 Ron Sanwith Teen Center at 31453 28th Avenue South, Federal Way, Washington.
- July 16, 2008 - The meeting of the Board of Education on July 22, will be held at the Educational Service Center at 5:00 p.m.
- June 26, 2008 - A special meeting has been scheduled for June 30th to make a decision regarding construction for Valhalla Elementary school.
- June 23, 2008 - A special meeting has been scheduled for June 25th to hear a Student Appeal.
- May 21, 2008 - A special meeting has been scheduled for June 11th to interview candidates for Director District 4.
- May 21, 2008 - A special meeting has been scheduled for May 30th to hear a Student Appeal.
- April 29, 2008 - A work/study has been scheduled for May 8th to discuss the budget.
- April 29, 2008 - A special meeting has been scheduled for April 30th to interview candidates for Director District 5.
- April 28, 2008 - A special meeting has been scheduled for May 1st to hear a Student Appeal.
- March 27, 2008 - A special meeting has been scheduled for April 7th to hear two Student Appeals.
- February 28, 2008 - The Board of Education will hold regular meetings for conducting work/studies. These meetings begin at 6:00 p.m.
- February 1, 2008 - A work/study has been scheduled for Wednesday, February 6th to discuss K-8 education and waiver day requests.
- January 7, 2008 - A board retreat has been scheduled for January 11th.
- December 13, 2007 - A special meeting has been scheduled for December 14th at the Educational Service Center to hear two Student Appeals.
- November 13, 2007 - A special meeting has been scheduled for November 14th for a student hearing and for an appeal.
- October 30, 2007 - A work/study has been scheduled for November 1st to discuss Course Assessments and Initiatives for Performance.
- October 1, 2007 - A special meeting has been scheduled for October 2nd to hear two Student Appeals.
- September 26, 2007 - A work/study to be held in Executive Session has been scheduled for October 1st to discuss the Superintendent’s Annual Evaluation.
- September 6, 2007 - A work/study has been scheduled for September 18th to discuss homework, WASL results, and EP & O Levy.
- September 5, 2007 - A schedule of regular meetings.
- September 4, 2007 - A meeting has been scheduled for September 4th to learn about the EP & O Levy and to discuss the School Board Self Evaluation.
