9th Grade

1. The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to create, to perform, and to respond effectively to the arts.

To meet this standard, the student will:

  • 1.1 Perform three to four-part a capella literature.
  • 1.2 Sing in an ensemble employing 4-part harmony with accurate intonation and good timbre.
  • 1.3 Improve poise and presence through public performance.
  • 1.4 Sight-read melodies using solfege, numeric or other established system.

2. The student applies the creative process with arts knowledge and skills to reason and solve problems.

To meet this standard, the student will:

  • 2.1 Evaluate ensemble blend and balance by using critical listening skills.
  • 2.2 Self-evaluate, analyze and discuss how performances could improve; including comparative analysis vis-ˆ-vis other choral ensembles and discussion

3. The student uses at least one of the art forms to communicate ideas and feelings.

To meet this standard, the student will:

  • 3.1 Demonstrate stage presence, poise, correct posture, and eye contact during performance.

4. The student understands how the arts connect to other subject areas, life, and work.

To meet this standard, the student will:

  • 4.1 Demonstrate knowledge of ethnomusicological concepts within the music performed.
