First Grade Learning Expectations

The learning expectations listed below are for first grade. Students will be assessed based on their progress toward meeting these grade-level expectations.

Communication Expectations

1. The student uses listening and observational skills to gain understanding.

2. The student communicates ideas clearly and effectively

3. The student uses communication strategies and skills to work effectively with others.

  • 1. Demonstrates conversation skills
  • 2. Contributes to a group with ideas and effort
  • 3. Identifies and shares ideas

4. The student analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of formal and informal communication.

  • 1. Uses established criteria to evaluate one's presentation
  • 2. Offers feedback, with guidance on other's presentations
